A dynamic program led by guest conductor Francesco Lecce-Chong, this concert opens with The Phoenix Ascends by contemporary composer Shuying Li. Full of energy and vivid imagery, the piece evokes the mythical bird's rebirth from flames-a fitting metaphor for artistic renewal and transformation. The concert continues with Stravinsky's Petrushka, a colorful and rhythmically charged ballet score that tells the tale of a puppet come to life.

Rounding out the program is Brahms' Violin Concerto, a work of both virtuosic fire and lyrical depth. Violinist Steven Moeckel brings his expressive artistry to this beloved concerto, last heard on our stage in 2017.
